MARIAH CAREY’S TENTH STUDIO ALBUM, ‘THE EMANCIPATION OF MIMI’ CELEBRATES ITS TENTH ANNIVERSARY.
For some, today is just another passing day in the month of April. For Mariah Carey and her fans, it is much more.
Today marks the 10th anniversary of Mariah’s critically acclaimed diamond album, The Emancipation of Mimi! For those of you who remain in shock upon realizing how old you truly are, you are not alone.
It’s hard to believe that much time has passed since the album’s release; this could be due to Mariah’s ageless beauty. At the age of 45, Mimi is a firecracker!

The Emancipation of Mimi stemmed from a tough breakdown that Mariah endured. After facing disappointments in her professional career, Mariah took a three-year hiatus before returning to music.
While working on her new album, she decided to take the advice of L.A. Reid and go with the title: The Emancipation of Mimi. Long before the nickname was popular to the public, close friends and family members affectionately called Mariah, Mimi. Reid believed he felt Mariah’s true self in the album and thought it was best to include a name that resembled that true self.
Features from Jermaine Dupri, Fatman Scoop, Snoop Dogg, Pharrell Williams, Nelly, and Mariah’s mega-high notes can account for all of our favorite jams! Who could forget about all those heartbreak anthems that would end in an eternal high note? A note that seemed to fade, yet never end… A note that everyone and their momma would try to mimic, only to find out that gasping for air at least five times is necessary for participation.
